PDP National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu has declared that it is his turn to govern Imo State ahead of the next governorship contest.
OWERRI, IMO — Samuel Anyanwu, the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has declared his intention to govern Imo State, saying the opportunity should come to him after the administrations of Ikedi Ohakim, Emeka Ihedioha, and Hope Uzodimma. Anyanwu made the remarks on Saturday in Owerri during the inauguration of a support group known as the “Polling Unit Movement for Sam Daddy.”
Addressing his supporters, Anyanwu said he had remained committed to the development of Imo State and believed the time had come for him to lead the state. He urged members of the newly inaugurated support group to begin mobilising at the grassroots level and strengthen the party’s structure ahead of future elections.
According to him, every political leader has an appointed time, and he believes his moment has arrived. He also thanked his supporters for their loyalty and confidence in his leadership. The event attracted party members, supporters and political associates from different parts of the state.
Anyanwu has been a major figure in Imo politics for several years. He previously served as a senator representing Imo East Senatorial District and has contested the governorship seat in the past. His latest declaration is expected to increase political activities within the PDP and among other parties preparing for the next governorship election in the state.
The development means the race for Imo’s top political office may begin to gather momentum earlier than expected. Anyanwu’s declaration could also trigger fresh political alignments and consultations among key stakeholders as parties begin to position themselves for the next electoral cycle in Imo State.
