MFormer presidential candidate Peter Obi has alleged that some forces within the Federal Government want to stop him from contesting in the 2027 election.
Anambra State — Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, has alleged that efforts are underway to stop him from appearing on the ballot in the 2027 presidential election. Speaking at a public event, Obi claimed that certain individuals within the Federal Government were doing everything possible to prevent his participation in the next election.
The former Anambra State governor said he remains focused on his goal despite what he described as obstacles placed before him. According to Obi, he is more concerned about the future of Nigeria than the challenges surrounding his political ambition.
Obi also challenged other presidential hopefuls, including President Bola Tinubu, to a public debate on their plans for the country. He said Nigerians deserve to hear practical ideas on how leaders intend to address the nation’s challenges and improve governance.
“I am not desperate to be Nigerian President but desperate to see Nigeria work,” Obi said. He also urged Nigerians to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs, and participate actively in the electoral process. The former presidential candidate further advised voters not to support him based on ethnic considerations but on what he described as his qualifications and vision for the country.
The comments come as political discussions surrounding the 2027 general election continue to gain momentum, with several politicians and parties beginning early consultations and strategic planning ahead of the polls.
