A Nigerian woman has shared an emotional account of her marriage. She says she feels like a single mother despite being married, claiming her husband has spent most of their eight-year union abroad.
LAGOS, NIGERIA — A Nigerian Lonely married woman has appealed for public attention after alleging that her husband has remained overseas for nearly eight years, leaving her to raise their five children largely on her own. Her story, which has circulated widely on social media, describes years of loneliness despite receiving financial support from her husband.
According to her account, the couple has been married for almost eight years and has five children, including twins. She claimed that her husband returned to Nigeria to marry her after disclosing that he was already married to another woman abroad. She said he promised to reunite the family within five years, but that promise has yet to materialise.
The woman alleged that although her husband regularly provides financial support, has built three houses in her name and established a fashion business for her, she values family unity over material comfort. She said she has repeatedly asked him to process travel documents for her and the children so they can join him abroad, but he continues to ask for more patience.
She also claimed that her husband has not visited since the birth of their twin boys and that the prolonged separation has affected both her emotional well-being and the children’s relationship with their father. In her emotional appeal, she expressed hope that the message would reach the woman she claimed is her husband’s wife abroad, believing it could encourage a resolution to the situation.

At the time of filing this report, the husband had not publicly responded to the allegations, and Extra News Nigeria could not independently verify the claims made in the woman’s account. The identity of those involved has also not been disclosed.
MThe development highlights the emotional and social challenges that can arise in long-distance marriages, particularly where one partner alleges prolonged physical absence. Family experts often note that while financial support is important, regular communication and physical presence also play significant roles in maintaining healthy family relationships. The claims remain the woman’s account and have not been independently verified.
