JUST IN: Social media personality VeryDarkMan has responded to critics, saying his recent content has focused largely on Nigeria’s insecurity and national issues rather than personal controversies.
ABUJA, NIGERIA — Popular social media activist VeryDarkMan, whose real name is Martins Vincent Otse, has addressed criticism over the type of content he shares online. In a recent social media post, he said claims that he avoids discussing issues affecting the Nigerian government no longer reflect his recent activities.
According to VeryDarkMan, about 99 per cent of his recent posts have centred on developments in Nigeria, particularly insecurity and other national concerns. He argued that despite his shift in focus, some critics have moved on to a new allegation, claiming he prevented someone from participating in a protest.
Responding to the criticism, VeryDarkMan wrote, “I remember when people said VeryDarkMan doesn’t talk about the government, but lately, 99% of my posts have been about the country and the insecurity happening in it. Many people have moved on from that and now they’ve come up with another agenda that I bounced someone from the protest ground.”
The social media influencer has remained one of Nigeria’s most talked-about online personalities, frequently commenting on governance, public accountability and other issues that affect citizens. His posts often generate widespread discussions across platforms, attracting both support and criticism from different audiences.
The development means VeryDarkMan continues to defend his role as a commentator on national issues while responding to allegations circulating online.
