Former Imo governorship candidate Uche Nwosu has praised FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for ongoing infrastructure projects and urban development across Abuja.
ABUJA, FCT — Uche Nwosu, a former governorship candidate of the Action Alliance in Imo State, on Monday commended Nyesom Wike for what he described as significant infrastructure development across Abuja. Speaking during a news conference in the Federal Capital Territory, Nwosu said residents and visitors can see visible improvements in roads, bridges and public facilities under the current administration, according to reports.
Nwosu highlighted several projects he said have changed the outlook of the nation’s capital. According to him, completed and ongoing works include the Apo Road project, Maitama Bridge, Jahi Bridge, the Jahi-Gwarimpa Interchange, the Airport Expressway to Kuje Road, the Kuje-Gwagwalada Road and sections of the Outer Southern Expressway. He stated that these projects show a commitment to improving transportation and connectivity across the FCT.
Speaking further, Nwosu said he had lived in Abuja for more than 25 years and had witnessed the condition of many roads before the recent upgrades. He said the projects provide evidence of purposeful governance and noted that government must continue to provide infrastructure that improves the lives of citizens. He also praised the construction of judges’ quarters, saying the project would support the welfare of judicial officers.
The former governorship candidate also called for Abuja to reflect the standards of major capital cities around the world. He said investments in infrastructure, environmental sanitation and security remain important for strengthening the image of Nigeria’s capital and improving the experience of residents and visitors. Nwosu added that development efforts should continue across government institutions and agencies.
The development means attention will remain focused on the performance of the FCT Administration under Wike. Supporters point to completed infrastructure projects and urban renewal efforts, while critics continue to raise concerns about other governance issues within the territory.
