UMUAHIA, ABIA — The media office of former Abia State Governor Theodore Ahamefule Orji has denied reports circulating on social media alleging that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) raided his residence in Umuahia. According to an official statement issued by the media office, no such operation took place, and the claims are entirely false.
The statement described the viral publication as “baseless, fabricated and malicious,” adding that the report falsely alleged the recovery of billions of dollars, pre-written election results, gold jewellery and exotic vehicles from the former governor’s residence. According to the media office, Theodore Orji is in good health and was never the subject of an EFCC raid in Umuahia or any other location in Nigeria.
The statement further urged members of the public and media organisations to disregard the report and verify information through credible sources before sharing it. According to the media office, the false publication was designed to mislead the public, damage reputations and create unnecessary panic. It also stated that its attention remains focused on supporting the political aspirations of Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji, the All Progressives Congress (APC) flag bearer for the Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.
