Nigerian soldiers have received a salary boost. The Federal Government says the new minimum monthly pay is part of efforts to improve military welfare and strengthen morale.

ABUJA, FCT — Minister of Defence Mohammed Badaru has confirmed that Nigerian soldiers now earn a minimum monthly salary of N100,000 following a recent welfare review by the Federal Government. The minister disclosed the development while speaking on measures introduced to improve the welfare of military personnel, according to official reports.

Badaru said the salary adjustment forms part of broader efforts to improve the living conditions of members of the Armed Forces. According to him, the government has also continued to invest in accommodation, operational equipment and other welfare programmes aimed at supporting troops carrying out security operations across the country.

Speaking on the review, the minister said Nigerian soldiers now receive a minimum of N100,000 every month after the latest welfare adjustment. He explained that the decision reflects the government’s commitment to supporting members of the Armed Forces as they continue to tackle security challenges in different parts of Nigeria.

The Federal Government has repeatedly stated that improving the welfare of security personnel remains a priority. In recent years, authorities have introduced various initiatives, including enhanced funding for military operations, procurement of new equipment and expanded support for the families of service members. Government officials have argued that better welfare will help improve morale and operational effectiveness.

The development means serving military personnel are expected to benefit from improved financial support as the government continues its security reforms. Security analysts have consistently identified personnel welfare as an important factor in maintaining troop motivation and operational readiness, especially as the Armed Forces sustain operations against criminal groups and other security threats across Nigeria.
