ASABA, DELTA STATE — Ossai Ovie Success, the Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Delta State Government, has recounted how he assisted an elderly man he met at a POS stand. According to him, the incident happened when the man, believed to be in his 70s, came to withdraw ₦1,000.
Ossai said the elderly man asked the POS operator to speak with his son, who immediately transferred the money needed for the transaction. He claimed the operator handed the man ₦900, explaining that the withdrawal charge for ₦1,000 was ₦100.
According to Ossai, the elderly man politely said the usual charge was ₦50 and appeared worried about losing the extra ₦50. He said the man looked devastated because the amount meant a lot to him and had already planned how to spend the money.
The media aide stated that he stepped into the situation and instructed the POS operator to give the elderly man ₦10,000 instead. He said the old man became emotional and laid on the ground in appreciation after receiving the money.
