KANO, KANO STATE — Kano State Hisbah Board has banned the downloading and distribution of movies through mobile phones across the state’s 44 local government areas. According to a statement issued on Thursday by the board’s Deputy Commander General, Dr. Mujahid Aminuddeen, the decision aims to protect public morality, uphold Islamic values and address concerns over the circulation of indecent video content.

According to the statement, the board received complaints that some operators involved in the mobile movie download business were distributing pornographic films and other videos considered contrary to Islamic teachings and the cultural values of Kano State. Aminuddeen said the directive forms part of efforts to reduce access to such materials, particularly among young people.
He added that the board believes the growing level of moral decline among some youths is linked to the consumption of indecent films and videos distributed through mobile devices.

“The board has deployed its personnel to monitor compliance through routine patrols and enforcement operations across the state,” he said.
He also warned that anyone found violating the order would face legal action under the laws of Kano State. The Deputy Commander advised those affected to seek other lawful sources of income while complying with the new directive.
