A Federal High Court in Abuja has affirmed the leadership of the African Democratic Congress led by David Mark and dismissed a suit challenging the party structure.
ABUJA, FCT — A Federal High Court in Abuja has upheld the leadership of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, led by David Mark, dismissing a suit filed by Leke Abejide against the party’s leadership structure.
According to court proceedings, Abejide had challenged the legitimacy of the current leadership arrangement within the ADC and sought judicial intervention over the party’s structure. The court, however, ruled in favour of the David Mark-led leadership and dismissed the suit.
The ruling has strengthened the position of the current ADC leadership at a time when political parties are preparing for future electoral activities across the country. Party members and supporters have also reacted to the judgment, describing it as a significant development for the opposition party.
David Mark, a former President of the Nigerian Senate, has remained a prominent figure in Nigerian politics and continues to play an active role within the ADC. The party has recently attracted attention following moves aimed at strengthening its internal structure and expanding its political influence.
Leke Abejide, who challenged the leadership arrangement, had argued that the party’s structure required judicial review. However, the court’s decision has effectively brought the legal challenge to an end unless another appeal is filed.
