APC Chieftain Threatens To Sabotage Tinubu In 2027 Zamfara

APC chieftain Sanusi Sa’adu has vowed to sabotage President Bola Tinubu and Governor Dauda Lawal in Zamfara in the 2027 elections.

GUSAU, ZAMFARA — APC youth stakeholder Sanusi Sa’adu from Bungudu Local Government Area warned President Bola Tinubu on Monday that he will lose supporters in Zamfara if the party accepts Governor Dauda Lawal’s defection from the PDP, according to an interview with Punch Newspaper. He described the planned defection as an evil wind that will not help the APC.

Sa’adu told Punch that he will defect from the APC and work against Tinubu and Lawal at the polls. He said, “I was telling President Tinubu that he will lose many supporters in Zamfara as a result of the defection of Governor Lawal to the APC”. He added, “His defection to the APC is an evil wind that will not blow any good to the party”.

The chieftain said he and his family will not vote for Tinubu and Lawal in 2027 if Lawal remains in the party. He said, “I and my family as well as many APC supporters in the state, will not vote for him (Tinubu) and Governor Lawal in the forthcoming 2027 general elections if Governor Lawal remains in the party”. He also vowed to either dump the APC or sabotage its chances.

Sa’adu announced that he has created a political group called ‘Anti-party Activities of Nigeria’ and serves as its national chairman. He said, “I will either dump the APC and join another one or sabotage its chances of winning elections in 2027. I have already created a political group called ‘Anti-party Activities of Nigeria’ and I am its national chairman”.

He acknowledged that Governor Lawal has executed projects in Zamfara but said the governor has abandoned his political structure. Sa’adu said Lawal has ignored human development and has not assisted those who helped him win the 2023 governorship election. He also accused the governor of refusing to allow credible candidates to get tickets during the last primary elections.

Sa’adu said many APC supporters were offended because those given party tickets for 2027 are not the choice of the majority. He said, “Many people were offended as those that have been given party tickets for the 2027 general elections are not the choice of the generality of APC supporters. So the governor should expect anti-party activities”.

The development means Zamfara APC faces a fresh internal crisis 18 months before the next general election. Sources told Extra News Nigeria that Sa’adu’s group plans to educate voters on choosing candidates based on performance rather than party affiliation. The APC leadership in Abuja has not yet responded to the threat, but party stakeholders in Gusau say reconciliation talks may start in the coming weeks to prevent a split in the state’s structure.
