LAGOS, NIGERIA — Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has expressed concern over the growing insecurity in Nigeria, saying terrorism and kidnapping have spread to the South and are now close to his doorstep.
The respected cleric made the remarks while speaking at a public event, where he called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to take stronger action against rising insecurity across the country. According to Adeboye, terrorist activities and abductions are no longer limited to parts of northern Nigeria but have become a nationwide challenge that demands urgent attention.
Speaking on the security situation, Adeboye said terrorism had reached areas that were once considered relatively safe. He appealed to the Federal Government to strengthen efforts to protect lives and property, adding that many Nigerians now live in fear because of the growing threat of kidnapping and violent attacks.
The cleric also urged President Tinubu to issue what he described as a 90-day ultimatum to security agencies to intensify operations against criminal groups responsible for terrorism and kidnapping. He stressed the need for decisive measures that would restore public confidence and improve security across the country.
His comments come at a time when concerns over insecurity remain high in several parts of Nigeria. Security agencies have continued operations against armed groups, while the Federal Government has repeatedly pledged to tackle terrorism, banditry and kidnapping through military and intelligence-led operations. According to official statements, the government maintains that efforts are ongoing to improve national security, although incidents of violent attacks and abductions continue to be reported in different states.
