According to Asiya El-Rufai, the court required two sureties with bonds of ₦200 million each, alongside properties valued at ₦200 million in Kaduna’s Government Reserved Area (GRA) and attestation from the Kaduna State Traditional Council.
She said efforts to meet those requirements had become impossible, delaying her husband’s release. The court had earlier ordered that El-Rufai remain in custody until all bail conditions were fulfilled.

Speaking on the bail conditions, Asiya El-Rufai said:
“Mallam El-Rufai was granted bail with terms that are not viable.”
She added:
“A bail term with two sureties, ₦200 million each, and properties worth ₦200 million in GRA Kaduna, with attestation from the traditional council of Kaduna State. Efforts to get these became impossible.”
