ABUJA, FCT — The Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF) says the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) does not have an operational account with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and has not received any government funds. According to Bawa Mokwa, Director of Public Relations at the OAGF, the council has also not received salary payments or budget releases.
Mokwa explained that although an application was initiated to open a CBN account for the council, the process was never completed because the required documentation, including the names of authorised account signatories, was not submitted. He added that without an operational account, the OAGF could not release any government funds to the organisation.
According to the OAGF spokesman, Adeniyi Adeyemi, convener of the PFIPC, presented an appointment letter during the account-opening process. However, Mokwa said the account never became active because the necessary administrative requirements were not fulfilled. He also dismissed reports that the council had recruited staff or received salary payments, stating that none of the approvals required from the relevant federal agencies had been completed.
The clarification comes amid growing public attention over the PFIPC following allegations and counter-allegations involving the council and its convener. The controversy has generated questions about the council’s legal status, funding structure and administrative processes. The OAGF’s latest position adds another official response to the ongoing matter.
