IKEJA, LAGOS — The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested an okada rider suspected of attempting to traffic methamphetamine after he allegedly excreted 100 wraps of the substance while in custody. The agency also announced the seizure of cannabis, popularly known as Loud, with an estimated street value of N10.3 billion at the Lagos Port Complex, according to a statement by NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi.
Why This Happened
According to the NDLEA, the motorcycle rider was arrested during an intelligence-led operation by anti-narcotics officers. The agency said the suspect was placed under observation after investigators suspected he had swallowed illicit substances before his arrest.
The statement added that the suspect later excreted 100 wraps of methamphetamine during the observation period. In a separate operation at the Lagos Port Complex, NDLEA officers intercepted a large consignment of Loud concealed in a cargo shipment. The agency estimated the street value of the seizure at N10.3 billion.
