According to Obi, the lawsuit is not intended to silence criticism but to ensure that all allegations are openly presented before a competent court. He said he wants Okonkwo to provide every piece of information he claims to possess so that the issues can be examined publicly.
“I sued him because I want Nigerians to hear everything he claims to know. I want him to bring out all the hidden things that he has on me. After exposing me, if I’m not qualified, I will leave the presidential race,” Obi said.
The legal dispute comes after months of political disagreements between Obi and Okonkwo, who previously supported Obi’s 2023 presidential campaign under the Labour Party. Their relationship later deteriorated following differences over the party’s leadership and political direction, leading to public exchanges between both men.
