PORT HARCOURT, RIVERS STATE — Governor Siminalayi Fubara is expected to present the Rivers State 2026 Appropriation Bill before the Rivers State House of Assembly on Friday, following the approval of the state’s 2026 to 2028 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework, according to reports and government sources.
The budget presentation is expected to take place at the Assembly Quarters Auditorium, where lawmakers currently hold legislative sittings. A Government House source told journalists that all preparations had been completed ahead of Friday’s presentation. The source described the event as a major milestone in the state’s budget process.
According to the source, “Today is the D-Day. The much-awaited budget presentation will happen today. The governor will present his budget.” Another source within the House of Assembly also confirmed that lawmakers would sit on Friday to receive the Appropriation Bill from the governor.
Last week, the House of Assembly approved the 2026 to 2028 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework submitted by Governor Fubara. The approval cleared the legal and fiscal path for the presentation of the 2026 budget, which outlines the government’s proposed revenue and expenditure plans for the next financial year.
