A viral video circulating on social media has generated widespread discussion. The footage is accompanied by unverified claims involving a lecturer associated with Northwest University, formerly Yusuf Maitama Sule University, and Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN).

KANO — A video showing a man being assaulted has circulated widely online, with social media users claiming he is the Head of the Department of History and International Studies at Northwest University and a visiting lecturer at MAAUN. The accompanying posts allege that the incident followed accusations of sexual harassment involving a female student. However, Extra News Nigeria has not independently verified these claims, and no official statement from the universities or law enforcement was available at the time of publication.

Social media posts allege that a female student accused the lecturer of repeatedly rejecting her project and demanding a sexual relationship in exchange for approval. The same posts claim the student informed her husband, who allegedly arranged a meeting that resulted in the assault seen in the video.

These claims remain unverified.

As of publication, neither Northwest University nor MAAUN has publicly confirmed the identity of the man in the video or responded to the allegations. There has also been no confirmed statement from the Nigeria Police regarding the incident.

Extra News Nigeria will update this report if official statements become available.
