LAGOS, NIGERIA — A Nigerian woman has claimed that her former university roommate allegedly faked a pregnancy to obtain ₦300,000 from a man she described as her “talking stage.” The allegation, which surfaced in a viral social media post, has generated mixed reactions online, although Extra News Nigeria has not independently verified the claims.
According to the woman, her roommate asked her to buy a pregnancy test strip from a pharmacy while they were in university. She alleged that after purchasing the test strip, she drew two lines on it with a red pen to make it appear positive. The roommate reportedly photographed the altered test result and sent it to the man, claiming she was pregnant and considering terminating the pregnancy.
The woman further alleged that the man pleaded with her roommate to keep the pregnancy and immediately transferred ₦200,000 after receiving the photo. She claimed the roommate later requested an additional ₦100,000, saying the money was for antenatal registration, and the man reportedly sent the funds without questioning the request. According to the account, the roommate allegedly used the money to buy a new mobile phone, clothing and hair products.
The social media post also claimed the man began suggesting names for the unborn child before communication eventually ended. According to the narrator, her roommate later blocked the man, not because the alleged deception had been discovered, but because she believed continuing the situation was wrong. The claims remain unverified, and no evidence has been made public to support the allegations. The identity of the individuals involved has also not been disclosed.
