OGUN STATE — The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed that 10 people lost their lives while six others sustained injuries following a fatal road crash on the Ibadan-Lagos Expressway in Ogun State. The crash occurred after a truck collided with a commercial bus, according to the FRSC, which attributed the incident to excessive speeding and wrongful overtaking.
According to the FRSC, emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after the crash to rescue victims and clear the affected section of the highway. Officials said the injured passengers received immediate medical attention and were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were evacuated to a morgue.
An FRSC official said preliminary findings showed that the crash resulted from speeding and traffic violations. The agency urged motorists to obey speed limits and traffic regulations, stressing that reckless driving continues to contribute to many fatal crashes on Nigerian highways. The commission also advised commercial drivers to ensure their vehicles remain roadworthy before embarking on trips.
