LAGOS, NIGERIA — A Nigerian man has shared a confusing exchange he had with a woman who mistakenly transferred ₦5,000 to his account. According to his social media post, he immediately contacted the sender after receiving the money to inform her about the error.
The man said the woman initially told him to keep the money, claiming that God had instructed her to send it to him. However, only a few minutes later, another message arrived in which she apologised and explained that she had transferred the money to the wrong person.
According to the post, the woman wrote, “Keep it. God told me to.” Moments later, she sent another message that read, “I’m so sorry, I sent it to the wrong person. Please send it back.” The man then jokingly asked social media users which of the two messages he was supposed to believe.
