Actor and politician Kenneth Okonkwo criticises Peter Obi over an ongoing court dispute, saying he no longer considers the former presidential candidate politically important.
ABUJA, FCT — Kenneth Okonkwo, a former spokesperson for Peter Obi’s presidential campaign, said he would no longer discuss the former Labour Party candidate because he considers him “a pretender.” Okonkwo made the remarks while speaking about his strained relationship with Obi and an ongoing legal dispute between them.
According to Okonkwo, he was disappointed that Obi allegedly took him to court despite what he described as a brotherly relationship between them. He claimed the legal action marked a significant breakdown in their political and personal ties.
“I won’t talk about him again because he is just a pretender,” Okonkwo said while discussing the disagreement. He also described the situation as sad, adding that he did not expect the relationship to end in a court case.
Okonkwo was one of the prominent supporters of Obi during the 2023 presidential election and played a key role in media engagements during the campaign. However, both men have since gone separate ways politically, with public disagreements emerging in recent months.
Neither Peter Obi nor his representatives had publicly responded to Okonkwo’s latest comments at the time of filing this report. Details of the court matter mentioned by Okonkwo also remained unclear.
