GOODNEWS: Police operatives have arrested two suspected kidnappers in separate operations across the Federal Capital Territory and Nasarawa State.
ABUJA, NIGERIA — The Nigeria Police Force has arrested two suspected kidnappers during separate security operations in the Federal Capital Territory and Nasarawa State. Police authorities said the arrests followed intelligence gathering and coordinated efforts aimed at dismantling criminal networks operating in the two locations.
According to police sources, one of the suspects was apprehended in the FCT after investigators linked him to a series of kidnapping incidents within communities around Abuja. The second suspect was arrested in Nasarawa State following surveillance activities carried out by security operatives in the area.
Police said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects allegedly belonged to kidnapping groups that had terrorised residents and commuters in parts of the FCT and neighbouring states. Security agencies added that the suspects are currently assisting investigators with information that could lead to the arrest of other members of the criminal networks.
The arrests come as security agencies continue to increase operations against kidnapping and other violent crimes across the country. In recent months, authorities have launched several intelligence-led operations in Abuja, Nasarawa and other North Central states following growing concerns over attacks on communities and highway travellers.
The development means security agencies may intensify surveillance and joint operations across the FCT and neighbouring states to disrupt kidnapping gangs and improve public safety. Police said investigations remain ongoing and promised to bring all those connected to the crimes before the courts after the completion of inquiries.
